Team SUNN MONTGENEVRE was in Val d’Isère for the National Championship : Nice weather, heat and altitude was the combo for this week-end. Friday is Four Cross day, all the best are here : Cédric Gracia, Quentin Derbier, Mickael Deldycke, Aurélien Giordanengo and of course Romain Saladini. During the qualifier, Romain takes second a couple 1/10th away from Deldycke, but knowing he has comitted a few mistakes he feels confident for the final. All motos goes smoothly with easy wind until semi. At this point he meets Deldycke, Giordanengo and Casanova. On the first corner Romain and Deldycke are shoulder to shoulder and unfortunately they both crash, leaving an easy run to Giordanengo and Casanova… Romain doesn’t give up and rush to the finish line to get the 3rd and last podium spot.
On the DH side, Anaïs still injured his here as a spectator and supporter for her team mates. Mitch is then the only DH riders for the SUNN MONTGENEVRE Team. On this tricky course he chooses to play safe, but his pace being a little too slow he ends up 12th. The big surprise comes from the Sunn sponsored riders : On Team SUNN Lac Blanc, Sandra Reynier 16 y.o. takes the Junior women National Champion jersey with a very good 4th place overall ! For the US Cagnes SUNN VTT, Loïc Bruni takes an impressive 8th overall and of course the win in the 15-16 category !
A little further north, Robin Wallner almost made an historical double win : he took indeed the win in 4X and missed by 1/100th of a second the win for the DH event, despite winning easily the qualifier…
Next Weekend SUNN MONTGENEVRE riders are heading to Champery, back to World Cup circuit, they will then do some training in Montgenèvre before continuing to Val di Sole.
