Europe Marathon DH Finals

This final round of the European Marathon DH Series was just great: Great course, fun to ride, technical, but still quite physical with the snow and rain of the last few days. Add to this a great organization along with an amazing field: Absalon, Parolin, Sunn’s Dream Team and also XC World Cup Champion, Nino Schurter. Everything was there then for a great race, but Team Sunn didn’t do as good as we hoped: Youk (Yannick Pontal) was ready for a good race, he got indeed 8th at the first run but got a crash and finished the second run in 12th.

On my side, I knew things would be tough, as I was just traveling back from Interbike and was having a hard time with jetlag... But I still had to do well in order to keep my second place at the GC. Unfortunately things did not start great at the first run: I got hit by a Swiss competitor and end up a few meters down the hill... So I decided to go for the holeshot at the second run and ride safely to the finish after that. It worked and I ended up 6th, good enough to save my 2nd place at the GC, just behind Mr Absalon and first in the "senior" category. A great season for us then with the Enduro Series (ACC women’s winner, Simon 3rd).

Can’t wait for next season!
