Maribor World Cup

12 05

Everyone were keeping an eye on Romain SALADINI, the winner of the last year 4X round in Maribor, but this weekend the surprise came from the Junior squad of the Team SUNN Riders Society namely Anaïs PAJOT, Valentin JUILLARD and Rémi THIRION.

Already during the morning qualifications they showned everyone that they were not here for fun. Despite a really competitve field they were within the first best 80 riders to be allowed to ride the final run. In the Elite category, Maxime REMY, in good shape, joigned them in the final run.

In the afternoon, Anaïs, attending a world cup race for the first time, takes a promising 2nd place in the Junior Women category. Rémi "Mitch" THIRION is impressive and takes the win in the Junior Men category with a 14th scratch position 5 seconds from the Elite podium. Newly integrated in the team Valentin JUILLARD is completing the Junior DH podium with a great 3rd place. Rémi THIRION is the new Word Cup leader in the junior category. It's been 10 years since SUNN has not lead the World Cup. A good sign at the beginning of the season.

After the podium Rémi was stocked ! "I'm really happy by this victory, I've done a great race and I could not imagine a better start of the season as 4 weeks ago I had broken my hand during a regional french race…".

Maxime REMY takes the 25th place and for Camille BLANCHARD, Guilhem ANDRE and Rémi CHARRIER you can bet they will be back for a revenge in the next round in Vall Nord.

In the 4X category, Romain SALADINI is qualifying in 3rd position but cannot make the final on a track where all the leaders of each races were systematicaly hitted by the 3rd/4th riders in the second turn. He's finishing in the 6th position. Romain knows he is in good shape and that really soon he will be able to show everyone his skills…

Stay tuned…
